Do I need to book in advance for camp/lessons/rentals?
As we keep the SUP camp's small for the best instructor:student ratio, it is recommended to reserve your spot in the camp as soon as you select the dates for your camp. If you need help selecting your camp dates, please call us on 409-744-2772.
Lessons will also require you to book in advance. if you would like to book a lesson, you can contact us on 409-744-2772 and we will get you set up.
Rentals do not require you to book in advance.
How do I pay for camp/lessons/rentals?
SUP camps and lessons are all pre-paid. Once you have selected the date(s) for your camp or lesson, you can contact us on 409-744-2772 to reserve your spot and pay over the phone with a credit card.
SUP and kayak rentals are payable when you pick up your equipment from the Galveston Paddleboard Center.
What is your camp/lesson cancellation policy?
All camps or lessons may be cancelled or rescheduled, with a complete refund, up to 14 days before the scheduled camp or lesson time.
Is there a minimum age?
SUP camps have a minimum age of 13 years and older.
SUP lesssons and rentals do not have an age limit. The only requirement is that you must be able to swim.
A waiver of liability is required to be signed by every participant at the Galveston Paddleboard Center. If you are under the age of 18 years, a parent or guardian must sign on your behalf.
Where do we meet for camp/lessons?
All lessons and camps will meet at The Galveston Paddleboard Center located inside Southern Spears Surf Shop. The exact water location of the lesson or camp will be dependent on weather conditions.
What do I need to bring?
All equipment for your lesson or camp is included. You should bring plenty of water, sunscreen, rashguard/surf shirt, hat, snacks.
Are the instructors qualified?
Yes, all instructors are certified instructors through the American Canoe Association (ACA) and have undertaking instructor training courses through the ACA.
What is your ratio of students to instructors?
SUP camps are limited to a ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor. This ensures maximum learning potential for the students.
